When you make it at home, it just tastes better!
Most of the time…
I am a home baker that just wants to share my baking adventures and be able to pronounce my ingredients!
If you would like to join me, I’ll leave the oven light on for you.
My Story
I grew up helping my mom in the kitchen around the holidays baking cookies. Then, when I grew up, I took that love of holiday baking to give my friends and family tins of assorted cookies. These cookies were a compilation of each friend’s favorite flavor that was a gift I gave made with love.
When I purchased my first home a few years ago, I discovered a rhubarb plant growing among the flowers in my back yard. With strawberry rhubarb pie being my favorite, I then set out to bake my first pie! That homemade strawberry rhubarb pie was the best pie I had ever had! I then dove into making several other pies that Summer and knew I wanted to start baking more homemade items to share with my family and friends.
My Ingredients
The best thing about making things at home is, you know exactly what’s going into your bake. I like to use fresh ingredients and get back to the simple things, that when combined, can make amazing desserts, pastries and breads.
GO THE EXTRA MILE and make some ingredients from scratch. It does take more effort, but it is well worth it in the end. If I am baking a pie with a graham cracker crust, I’ll take the 20 minutes to quickly bake some graham crackers from scratch and then throw them in the food processor to make the crust fresh. If a recipe says to add strawberry jelly, I’ll take fresh strawberries and cook them down. These details take ANY bake to the next level when you are following a recipe and eliminate the chemicals and preservatives from the store-bought shortcuts.
I chose to share my baking journey with all of you so we can share in the deliciousness.
